Our Council

Sitgreaves Housing Council is a sub-council of the SGCDC focused on the Continuum of Care for Navajo and Apache Counties. The SHC is a consortium of agencies, community members, and those who have experienced homelessness and other social determinants of health that plague our rural communities. These individuals advocate for the Navajo and Apache COC policy, procedures, initiatives, programs, and resources.

Continuum of Care
Capacity Building Grant

Within the Arizona Balance of State Continuum of Care, the SGCDC serves as the designated agency under the Arizona Department of Housing for homelessness initiatives in Navajo and Apache counties. These initiatives encompass critical activities such as the Point In Time Count, Case Conferencing, and quarterly meetings with numerous housing and support agencies. Additionally, we actively collaborate with McKinney Vento Schools to enhance partnerships, resources, and services. Our efforts extend to fostering relationships with landlords across Navajo and Apache Counties, aiming to expand access to affordable housing for community members with low to moderate incomes.

AZ Housing Coalition Infrastructure Grant

Recently awarded, this Infrastructure grant directs our efforts towards expanding the housing intake site to CareAZ in St. Johns, Apache County, while also enhancing access to sustainable funding and programs for existing housing agencies. The grant includes a provision for $100,000.00 in agency social services support, accessible through straightforward grant applications and requisite participation in Point In Time (PIT) counts, Case Conferencing, and quarterly meetings. Additionally, the grant initiative involves educating our realtor population about valuable opportunities for additional homeownership programs.
